SAILOR MIKE'S -
Stay at the Helm, avoid the jagged sharp rocks of Sin! Do not let your life go on auto-pilot so you are not fully aware of your surroundings on the Sea of Life. Be alert and sober minded! Don't be a castaway and go shipwreck.

Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck.        1 Timothy 1:19

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.  -Jude verse 3-

Where are you today in your Christian journey? Do you take the time to read and study the Bible? Your friends, do you have good decent friends who serve the LORD JESUS around you?

I remember reading a story about a merchant ship Officer and because it was late at night with calm weather and no surface contacts within miles put the Helm steering the ship on auto-pilot and the Officer left his Post and went to sleep. Unfortunately there were problems ahead as the ship somehow went aground and disaster struck ruining the cargo.

I have seen people who have become complacent about sin. They stop reading the bible daily making their prayer life minimal and then begin to yoke up as time passes with unchristian people doing and going places they should not. They feel they are strong and will not fall into sin. Some go out with friends from work for Happy Hour and after awhile of this begin to do things they did not do before as a God-fearing believer in JESUS like drinking alcohol and meeting someone perhaps that is not saved. Many times relationships are formed bringing sinful lusts and harm. Trouble does come, and the good testimony they had in JESUS has now become diminished, less effective and vibrant. Sorrow comes, heartache and the awfulness of sin causes problems for them and sometimes those around them are hurt because of their wrong living. Those around them that truly need JESUS see no difference between them and the Christian. This person is a Christian they say?

Your testimony as a believer in JESUS is important as you have the forgiveness of sins and a Home in Heaven someday. By neglecting the daily things the Lord wants you to do like bible reading and prayer plus weekly good church attendance where you need to get involved with can somehow someway cause you to slip and slide in sin of some kind by not going. You want to help people come to JESUS, so be lively and look alive in JESUS, and strive to maintain a good testimony.

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world and not after CHRIST.
                                           Colossians 2:8

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
                             Ephesians 5:11

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour. 1Peter 5:8

Don't be a castaway!

The Apostle Paul wrote the Corinthian Church about their worldliness and sin and said to them:
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your ownselves. Know ye not your ownselves, how that JESUS CHRIST is in you, except ye be reprobates? 2 Corinthians 13:5

* What Paul was saying are you really a Christian? Do you really have CHRIST as your Saviour? Review your life and check up on yourself by the worldly sinful living you are partaking in if you are really CHRIST's. JESUS died and gave himself for us. HE loves us so. Stand in review and see why and what you are doing. Return to JESUS if you aren't living the way you ought to live. 1 John 1:9 says that HE will forgive us of our sins. Get back in Fellowship with HIM. Perhaps today you know not CHRIST as your Saviour. Everyone is a sinner and needs to be saved. Come now and Call upon HIS name for Eternal Salvation of your soul. Turn from sin and live for JESUS.
